Make it stand out.

For too long philanthropy has been about bandaids. It’s all well and good to make sure kids get a gift from Santa, but what is causing the financial stresses for their family. We felt it was time to get to the heart of the matter. With the economy creating stress for so many people and families we wanted to do something to help build our local economy.

Many people work outside of Mission and they tend to shop near where they work or along their commute rather than buy local. In fact they are often unaware of some of the great shops and services we have. Not only can you get a great cup of coffee here, you can buy eggs straight from the farmer or get a mechanic to do a house call. How cool is that?! And some of our local restaurants are amazing!

As well, many people are starting side hustles to cover increases in the cost of living. We wanted to make sure these people have an equal chance to promote themselves.

With a rapidly growing population of about 45,000, Mission needed a central hub for finding all things local.

So, we created Mission Local.

We wanted to make promoting a business barrier free. No expensive memberships and no red tape. Our only parameter is that a business be home grown - no chains, MLM, or franchises.

Because we are doing everything on our own time and dime, it is slow going, but we have a Facebook group of over 3k and are slowly adding pages onto the website.
